Ronnie, 72, Belle ChaseI was recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis and hip impingement (FAI ) in my right hip. I had trouble walking without limping, bending down to tie my shoes, sleeping without pain and playing golf pain free. My orthopedist recommended physical therapy to strengthen the muscles around the hip, leg, and knee. He referred me to a Blue Wave Therapy and Wellness for therapy done with aquatic therapy. After an exam to determine a baseline of leg strength, and range of motion, Catherine outlined a therapy plan consisting of home exercises and exercises done by using aquatic therapy at Blue Wave. After 4 weeks, twelve sessions of aquatic therapy and home exercises, I now have more leg strength and pain free range of motion. In fact, I can now do the aforementioned activities pain free with few limitations. I'm playing golf, lining up my putts, and walking without the cart! |
Carolyn, 64 MetairieDue to multiple injuries, degenerative disc due to scoliosis, the nerve pain had become debilitating. I was missing out on sleep, social gatherings, driving, travel, shopping, and normal daily work and home responsibilities. Before I tried aquatic therapy I tried so many things that didn't work... Stretching, walking, treadmill, acupuncture, chiropractor, reflexology, over the counter cremes for pain, steroids, ice, heat. Due to sensitivities and severe reactions, I can not take any anti-inflammation over the counter medications or prescribed oral medications; therefore, for decades, alternative solutions have been chosen. Once starting aquatic therapy, the freedom to move and feel normal without pain was amazing. I had the same feeling using the anti-gravity treadmill, but without the nerve pain when I was done. Once again, I can make commitments with friends to enjoy music and art venues, lasting longer than a hour. I was able to assist with harvesting honey on Lake Katherine. I was able to drive to the Northshore again and enjoy a 95th birthday party. For anyone skeptical about physical therapy I say to love yourself, live and stay vertical.
